7-zip是一款gnu/lpgl協議下分發的免費軟件，可以說是目前最有希望成爲zip、rar之後的下一個主流壓縮格式的文件壓縮格式了。7zip的壓縮率是他最大的競爭優勢，在選擇普通壓縮率的情況下我們已經可以輕松擊敗winrar的最高壓縮率了。但是7zip也不完美(要是完美了，rar就已經被取代了)，主要是軟件的界面依然不夠優秀，格式本身對于分卷壓縮的支持也不好，但是這不妨礙7zip成爲最有潛力的壓縮格式。
